Dead Serious

Well I’m not writing it down
the words will only come to haunt me
Not writing it down
I’ll memorize and then recite it
And I’m not hanging around
I’ll say my lines and then depart because I’m
not hanging around
If you don’t think that I was right

And I’m dead serious now
I got the whole thing figured out
A man, a plan, a visionary
cure for all my doubt.

And you might think I’m overacting
And you might think this tone’s distracting
But I’m not toning it down
I’ve been rehearsing, this is perfect and I’m
not toning it down
If you don’t think that I was worth it

And I’m experienced now
I got my whole life figured out
If you destroy my happy ending
you’ll never live it down

And I’m dead serious now
I got the whole thing figured out
A man, a plan, a visionary
cure for all my doubt

Well I’m not writing it down
cuz we had great communication
And I’m not writing it down
cuz in the past that never helped
And now I’m not sticking around
because I scripted your reaction and I’m
not sticking around
to see if you do something else

And I’m preparing it now
I’ve got the whole speech figured out
A bound-for-glory oratory
dazzling and loud

And I’m dead serious now
I’ve got the whole thing figured out
A man, a plan, a visionary
cure for all my doubt
