Christmas Lights
[Download here]
Here is a pair of songs that would make a nice seven-inch. Christmas Lights was written in November 2003 and EBDGBE in January 2004.
I’m debating dropping the “Orcas” thing altogether, but for now, this is my first release under my own name.
Recorded in Łomża, Poland, winter 2003 – 2004.
This is Pretend These Are Records #7.
Christmas Lights
Out on the town with an ex-ex-girl Who wanted to see a hipster boy Who worked at the door and let us in for free First thing I noticed were Christmas lights That dangled down above the sold-out crowd And made the club look almost clean Now i can’t recall the details of the show After all I’ve only ever known Maybe 4 or 5 songs by the man We stood in the crowd and watched him for a while And he had this melancholy style Sad and soft and lonesome honesty Last time I checked the Christmas lights were still turned on Last time I checked the Christmas lights were going strong Everything else has changed since then The hipster doorman disappeared They didn’t put his obit in the Post The sad-looking man who played that night Is never gonna sing again Too sad and soft and lonesome to survive But - Last time I checked the Christmas lights were going strong Last time I checked the Christmas lights were still turned on
